Our brand new campus was specifically designed for GALS LA. About the size of a small elementary school, our new campus will serve 330 students in a safe residential neighborhood.

Science labs, a running track and multi-sport playing field, and beautiful new classrooms—our new building features warm and welcoming spaces for learning and thriving.

Featuring an innovative design that drastically cuts down on construction time, our building meets green standards and uses recycled materials.

Having a permanent, dedicated campus provides more stability and consistency for our students and their families, and ties us more closely to our Van Nuys community.

We believe athletics inspires joy, builds confidence, and leads to academic success. Research shows us that daily exercise improves memory, attention, and cognition. GALS LA integrates movement, or athletics, in each school day to boost self-esteem and encourage teamwork. From yoga to dance class to field hockey, GALS students have the opportunity to explore a variety of activities.

We believe students do their best when their minds, bodies, and emotions are healthy. Social-emotional learning is an essential part of school. Every student participates in a daily social-emotional wellness class. Our teachers support each student by giving them the attention and tools to empower them during their middle school years and beyond.

Every summer, GALS LA partners with Afterschool All-Stars Los Angeles to provide the ASAS-LA Free Summer Bridge Camp. This program is free and available to all GALS LA students. Summer camp participants take part in fun outdoor activities such as arts and crafts, dance, basketball, soccer, volleyball and cheerleading. 

Through the integration of a health and wellness curriculum addressing the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of female adolescent development, GALS LA balances the goal of building strong minds and bodies with the opportunity for students to garner the skillset to emerge as leaders of their own lives. We envision a world where all young women, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to access the skills, knowledge, and self-determination to succeed in secondary school, college, in their communities, and the world.
